The silver Somali Elephant Coin is minted as part of the African Wildlife Series and is issued annually. African elephants are the largest and heaviest terrestrial animal on earth, not known to be natural predators. This majestic animal adorns the reverse of every coin, the design of which changes every year, making it a coveted item for collectors and investors. The coins are minted at the Bavarian State Mint.
The center of the obverse of the coin depicts the coat of arms of the Federal Republic of Somalia, surrounded by a pentagonal shield, crowned with a stylized crown with five teeth, supported by two leopards facing each other, standing with one paw on a crossed spear with two palm branches intertwined with a ribbon. Above the coat of arms, along the rim of the beads, is the name of the issuing country "REPUBLIC OF SOMALIA" (Republic of Somalia), at the bottom - the denomination "100 SHILES", on the left and right - the numbers "20" and "22", forming the coin "2022 Year of issue.
The reverse depicts an adult elephant with an elephant cub walking to the left through a savannah. In the background are trees, and above the elephants are the sun and three flying birds. Around the circle are the inscriptions “AFRICAN WILDFIFE • ELPHANT • 1 oz Ag 999.9” (series name “African Wildlife”, coin name “Elephant”; 1 ounce 999.9 silver).
