This set was the first joint product of the United States Mint and the Royal Canadian Mint. The set is designed to commemorate the statehood of both countries with coins that reflect their rich history, pride and close relations with neighboring friendly countries.
The set consists of a one-ounce American silver eagle coin with an improved Reverse Proof finish and a one-ounce silver maple leaf coin from the Royal Mint of Canada with a modified Proof finish.
The obverse of the US one-ounce silver coin depicts the full length of Adolf A. Weinman's wrapped flag, with his right arm outstretched and his laurel and oak branches on his left.
The reverse of the coin depicts a heraldic eagle with a shield and an olive branch on the right.
The obverse of the silver 1-ounce maple leaf coin features an image of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, created by Suzanne Blunt against a background of radial lines of star patterns and maple leaves around the perimeter.
The reverse depicts Walter Otto’s maple leaf against a background of radial lines with a star pattern and a maple leaf around the perimeter.
