A coin from the Big Five series, issued by the South African Mint. The so-called "Big Five" includes: elephant, lion, buffalo, rhinoceros, and leopard. All these magnificent animals are symbols of African wildlife.

The obverse of the coin features a close-up image of a roaring lion, along with the inscriptions: “FIFTY RAND” – the face value, “AU 999.9” – gold purity, and “1/4 Oz” – the coin’s weight. The reverse side shows a beautiful and detailed depiction of a lion. The other side of the coin bears the inscriptions: “SOUTH AFRICA” – the issuing country, “BIG FIVE” – the name of the series, “2025” – the year of issue, and the Coat of Arms of South Africa.
