The Perth Mint Series III Lunar Dragon is the fifth coin in the series. Previous coins in the series were 2020 Year of the Mouse, 2021 Year of the Buffalo and 2022 Year of the Tiger and 2023 Year of the Rabbit. The Lunar Year series includes 12 animals that are representatives of the Chinese lunar calendar. The year 2024 belongs to the dragon, which in Chinese mythology is a majestic beast that lives in rivers, lakes, oceans and roams the skies. The Chinese zodiac sign of the dragon falls into the following years: 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012 and 2024.

 

The gold coin is minted on the highest gold standard, weighing 1/10 troy ounce. An important element is the limited edition of the coin, only 5000 pieces are counted. Each coin comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity and original packaging.

 

The obverse of the Year of the Dragon coin features the image of Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "AUSTRALIA". In addition, the obverse contains information about the face value, weight and mintage quality.

 

The Chinese dragon is depicted on the reverse. The reverse also features the Chinese character "dragon", the inscription "DRAGON 2024" and the letter "P", the Perth Mint mark.
