The obverse of the coin depicts the two hemispheres of the Earth under a royal crown, flanked by the Pillars of Hercules with the motto PLUS ULTRA; all on a rough sea. In the top center of the piece, a circle contains the mintmark, a five-pointed star, the graphic euro symbol and the silhouette of a pillar. At the top is the inscription FELIPE VI REY DE ESPAÑA in a circular direction and in capital letters. The legend, 1 OUNCE 999.9 GOLD, is depicted in a circle at the bottom of the coin. The reverse of the coin features an image of the majestic Andalusian horse. To the left, in capital letters, the inscription "CABALLO CARTUJANO", together with the mint mark and the year of issue 2023. In the upper part, horizontally and in capital letters, the face value of the coin "1.5 euro". On the edges of the coin is a graphic of gears.
