This collectible coin depicts King Midas of Phrygia. Honored with the gift of the god Dionysus to turn everything he touches into pure gold, Midas soon fell victim to the power that made him immensely wealthy. Unable to eat or quench his thirst, he sought solace in his daughter's arms, who instantly turned into a golden statue. He then begged Dionysus to take away this gift and, according to legend, had to bathe in the river Pactolus to free himself from this curse.
On the reverse we find a modernized adaptation of the engraver Louis-Oscar Roty's The Sower, which allows us to see a heraldic version of the French flag on the dress cover. The word "RF" is also surrounded by hexagons, reminiscent of France.
The "Sower" is a symbolic coin series of the Monnaie de Paris. Focus on historical and numismatic events, since 2014. the history of the currency itself is mentioned. After two years spent commemorating the anniversary of the introduction of the euro in France, Sėjėjas renews itself and makes a leap in time.
