A new 3 ruble commemorative coin was issued by the Bank of Russia on August 9, 2021 and belongs to the Cosmos series. The new coin is made of 925 sterling silver, Proof minting quality, with a circulation of 3000 pieces. On the reverse is a relief image of the portrait of K.E. Tsiolkovsky against the background of images of outer space and formulas made in color. At the bottom along the circumference is the inscription "K.E. TSIOLKOVSKY".
Konstantin Eduardovich Tsiolkovsky (1857-1935) - Russian scientist who developed the theoretical issues of astronautics. On April 12, 1961, 60 years ago, the Vostok-1 spacecraft with Yuri Gagarin on board made its first flight into space from the Baikonur Cosmodrome to near-Earth orbit, and in 2021 the 60th anniversary of the first manned space flight was celebrated.
