The coin's reverse depicts the five Chinese elements of wood, fire, earth, metal, and water, surrounding a stainless steel enamel plated yin yang rotating charm, which represents the continual flow of the five elements as they exist in nature. The design includes the inscriptions WOOD, FIRE, EARTH, METAL and WATER, as well as the Chinese symbols for each of the five elements, and The Perth Mint's traditional 'P' mintmark.

To capture the depth and detail of the design, the coin features an antique finish. This coin has been individually 'antiqued' to give it a unique finish conveying the surface abrasions of an ancient artefact. As a result of this treatment, the appearance of each coin may vary.
